Description
In 1991, B & W patented their innovative gooseneck hitch that solved an issue many were having; how to remove the ball out of the bed when not towing. The B & W answer is to cut a 4 inch hole in the bed which accommodates the Turnover hitch ball, while the mounting system is bolted to the frame beneath the bed. This design is completed with a handle attached toa 5/8” locking pin that goes through the ball. When you do not need to use the hitch, the handle allows you to retract the pin and stow the ball upside-down, in the same receiver used while in action. This design was a great improvement to the welded-in ball and fold down plate solution.

Notes
- If you have a short bed vehicle, check that you have adequate clearance between the front of all your trailers and the truck's cab before installing this hitch
- Remove the spare tire and on vehicles 2008 and up remove the spare tire heat shield before installing this hitch

Q: Should I grease the hitch up or can i just leave it alone?
A: Greasing up the corners of the hitch from time to time is optimal for performance. You should do it first at the end of the installation and then more frequently based on overall usage.

I bought this to go with the B&W companion fifth wheel I had already purchased. I installed it myself using a chain hoist to hold it in place while attaching hardware. Installation is fairly simple and hitch is definitely heavy duty. I went with a B&W on the advice of a friend and I am not disappointed. Just know B&W turnover ball hole is not round it's square with the corners rounded,so if you are using this with a fifth wheel the stob will need to match.

Hitch is built with excellent materials and workmanship which is hard to find these days. It bolted right up to my 2008 f350 with NO problems. It is totally level with my bed when not in use. It is so nice to have an unobstructed bed to use again. When I pull with it, it is solid with no strange creaking sounds. I pull about 12-13000 pound loads with it. I would definitely recommend this hitch to anyone that needs a hitch they can trust and it looks nice on the truck, too.

I had a similar B&W Gooseneck hitch on a previous truck, that is why I was completely satisfied with that one, so that is why I went with them again, This time I installed the hitch, I watch the video a few times and found I needed to loosen the bolts holding the bed to the frame and lift the bed up with a chain hoist to get the components in place to bolt together, but all in all not a difficult task, the idea of cutting the hole in a 1/2" plank and then standing on the plank as a guide to cut the hole in the bed was very helpful.

The B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck hitch is the best I've found. I've installed 2 of them, and I like them much more than previous types we've used. The ball is easy to flip over to leave a flat bed, and they always stay perfectly vertical when in use (unlike some other brands that pivot down -- wear causes them to stand at a slight tilt). They're good quality, not difficult to install, and provides all the capacity my 1-ton Ford requires.

It was easy to install and fit perfect. I like the turnover ball because there is no obstructions in the bed of my truck to haul things. This hitch excepts my B&W 5th wheel Companion hitch that only take 5 minutes to install.
