After installing the helper springs it became very evident they were not the proper solution for my application. I felt like there was no progression, they immediately made the ride very stiff and the spring slap was annoying even with a 15K lbs. fifth wheel attached. Now to the hardware, the hardware (u-bolts) bend before reaching the recommended torque value. Not sure if that played into the ride and noise issue, bottom line is I tried them for two weeks now I have a $350.00 paper weight sitting in my garage.
Worked better than airbag systems we had tried before, install and forget it,
The installation process was a little more difficult than bolt on like they were supposed to be. As the the product itself, I haven't ever had a pair of helper springs that work as well as these do. They're easy to adjust and work excellent. Very good product. I'm looking to get some for my other truck as well.
Owner installed on a 2006 Duramax 2500 HD long bed. Easy installation but I needed to buy an closed end wrench with a short handle to tighten some bolts because I did not have a deep socket. I carry a truck camper in the bed and the springs eliminated sagging, and "porpoising" on highways with bad expansion joints. The camper when fully loaded with propane, clothes, food, some water, extra battery, etc. weighs approximately 3300 pounds. The truck still has the original rear shocks. If the helper springs didn't do their job I was going to replace those. Now I am in no hurry to do that but will eventually to improve ride when bed is not carrying a load. I previously installed a heavy duty rear sway bar which definitely helped with side to side movements. The combination of the springs and bar have instilled confidence in trucks ability to handle tight mountain roads with a top heavy load of truck camper.
