The original springs on the truck were bottoming out, and the wake-up call was on a trip into New Mexico pulling a trailer, where even with the weight distribution hitch cinched up as hard as safe, it still bottomed out on a cattle guard and tore up the tongue strut of the trailer, and then the truck squatted so low it shattered the trailer light connector as well. I ordered a significantly heftier spring set than the factory original, and the performance has breathed new life into the truck. Now there is adequate clearance even with a really heavy load in the back, or towing the flatbed with a full zized tractor chained down on it. While the ride is somewhat rougher than before on pothole-riddled oil field lease roads, I have not had the bumper or hitch receiver scrape the ground since installation. It gave me another 2.5 inches frame to pavement clearance near the center, which has removed the worry about getting "high centered" on a notorious railroad grade crossing

The springs were easy to physically install once you get the old springs out. Old shackle bolts were completely frozen and impossible to remove which required cutting them out. Getting the new bolts isn't as easy as going down to most hardware stores since my 2000 F-150 had very hard metric bolts. Just make sure you have them handy ahead of time if you think you will need them because you will probably need to order them from somewhere. I upgraded the springs in my truck from the stock 2/1 to these 4/1 springs. When I called to order the new springs the gentleman on the phone told me that these would only increase the height of my rear suspension by approximately one inch. Wow was that way off. Granted my old springs were slightly sagging but adding these springs added approximately 10 inches of lift to the rear of my truck. It looked ridiculous and handled awful. I had to purchase and install 2.5 inch drop shackles in the rear but this threw off my pinion angle and introduced a very s

Just what I needed. Fit perfectly. Raised the back end up 3". Make sure you get the longer U bolts to go with it.
