Our very own Add-A-Leaf kit, part number 62201 has been tested to fit your 1999 to 2018 Silverado 1500. These custom built add-a-leafs provide the most economical solution to lifting your vehicle and adding the proper load support in times when you need it the most. Each order ships as a pair and has been powder coated black to help against rusting. These specific Add-A-Leafs come with center bolts and necessary tip pads included with your purchase in order to make sure the installation is fast and simple. After installing our 62201 kit, your truck will have a higher load capacity and while on the road, your suspension system will be put under less stress.
Please keep in mind that Add-A-Leafs are designed to be added onto existing leaf springs for additional lift height and proper load support. Add-A-Leafs are not a replacement for leaf springs, as both are required for maximum capacity and strength.
Installation was easy. The springs really gave some backbone to my dad's '99 Chevy 1/2 ton. The factory springs were way too wimpy for a work truck. 500lbs would easily squat the truck down with the original springs. Now, it can takes 2000lbs to squat the bed down. Obviously this is not recommended for a half ton pickup, but, sometimes you just gotta get the job done! Great product. Definitely worth the money.
Installed in about two hours. I recommend having two c-clamps to make installation A LOT easier. I used one to keep the factory springs together and using a pair of vice grips (just tight enough to hold the center pin in place without damaging the threads) to hold the center pin and the second c-clamp to raise the add a leafs into place enough to start threading the nut. Then crank down with an impact to tighten it all together. I used these in conjunction with the rough country leveling kit that came with the shocks. Instead of using the block that came with the kit, I used the factory block but put the springs on to help with towing during firewood season. Had 6.5x12.5 trailer loaded 3' tall with fresh cut red oak and barely squatted below level.
springs work as described as far as weight support and height adjustment. on installation the new center bolt threads stripped out about half way down and required me to cut it off and install a much shorter grade 8 bolt and nut but this greatly increased the difficulty of install and could have potentially been a very dangerous procedure if the springs would have popped out of the c-clamps I had holding them together while cutting the center bolt out.
Me and my dad installed these in about 2 hours. I already have a 6in lift kit and no car hoist so it was hard lifting up the whole vehicle enough to be able to drop the axle far enough. So for anyone with a smaller lift or no lift at all this is a walk in the breeze. and I definitely recommend them.
