How to Find the Perfect Sway Bar for Your Ford F53 Chassis
The Ford F53 chassis is one of the most popular motorhome chassis, used for Class A and Class C motorhomes. We regularly field customer questions about the best way to stabilize their motorhomes and RVs. Aside from questions about load support options such as suspension airbags, many customers have questions about how to choose the correct sway bar for their F53, as the differential determines the bar needed for each style, hence the question: "How do I determine if my F53 RV has the large or small differential?"
Large Axle - Welded Cover
It's actually very easy to tell which differential your F53 has and therefore, which sway bar is needed. Hellwig sway bar model number 7216 for the 99-17 Ford F53 chassis fits the large axle, which has a welded differential cover, as illustrated in the picture below.

Small Axle - Bolted Cover
