About the Firestone Air Compressor System
Firestone offer the standard duty compressor system and the heavy duty compressor system. Each system will give you the ability to adjust your air helper springs at any time without having to look for an air source and help with maintaining your ride. In the video provided below, we show you how easy the air compressor kit from Firestone 2168 installs and works on our pickup. This kit came complete with the on-board compressor, air tanks, dual air gauge, as well as all of the air fittings. Differences between an Firestone Standard and Heavy Duty Air Compressor So what are the differences between each system? First, the pressure at which each compressor operates is different. The standard compressor will operate at a lower PSI (between 120 psi - 130 psi), whereas the heavy duty compressor will operate at a higher PSI (between 145 psi - 150 psi). Another difference is the amount of air the compressor moves per minute. The standard duty compressor will move less air compare to the heavy duty compressor which will move a large amount of air due to the larger cylinders. It is recommended that people who use their Firestone air springs moderately should go with the standard compressor. People who adjust their air spring many times per week should go with the heavy duty compressor. Our customers speak highly of Firstone Air Compressors, and you can view specific comments on the product page of any individual item you are looking for. Overall, our compressor owners rate them 4.8 out of 5 based on 16 ratings. How to Install an Firestone Air Compressor Installing the Firestone air compressor system is easy. Air compressors will work with Firestone air suspension products including Ride-Rite, Sport-Rite and Coil-Rite. First you will find a convenient location to install the compressor. On our vehicle, we installed the compressor underneath the back seats. You will run the electrical wires to the fuse box. Connect the air Line tubing to the air compressor, and then connect to the air tank. Find a convenient location to install the gauge panel. Once you have done this, bolt it down and then run the tubing from the control panel to the air springs and the air tank. You will hook the lining up to air compressor fittings between the gauge and the air tank. Find a location on your truck for the manual inflation valve. You will route the airline tubing from the t-fitting to the inflation valve. Once completed, test the system and that's it! We offer an installation manual on each product page to help you when installing. We offer a Firestone air compressor mounting brackets and air tank mounting brackets that are optional. The brackets will mount the compressor and air tank to the frame of your vehicle and will eliminate the need to drill or weld. Looking for air compressor accessories? We offer Firestone air compressor parts including pressure switches and lift spacers. Firestone air compressor systems come with a 2 year warranty and free shipping!
