Ford F53 Motorhome Chassis (w/ under 18k GVWR or 20k+ GVWR) Anti-Sway Bars by Hellwig are an easy and affordable way to upgrade your vehicles handling performance. The torsional effect of the sway bar will significantly reduce sway and body roll. The sway bar will help to transfer the pressure on the outboard wheels and apply opposite pressure on the inboard wheels. Weight is more evenly distributed to all four wheels helping your F53 Motorhome stay more level with the road - making for a safer, sturdier, and more enjoyable ride.
I own a 2001 Holiday Rambler Vacationer F53 Chassis. I had a major issue with my coach swaying. I installed the sway bar, front airbags with sumo springs in the rear. WOW! Now It's like driving a completely different coach!. Took it on a trip from Kansas City to Lake Tahoe and what a great ride!
We bought a 2003 Winnebago Sightseer. A previous owner had installed the Hellwig rear anti sway bar add on, but on vacation it still seemed like it wasn't real steady on the road. I looked at recommendations and decided to try replacing the factory front anti sway bar with the heavier Hellwig replacement. I ordered it from SD Truck Springs and it arrived promptly. As I began the installation I realized that the instructions did not match the actual configuration of the Ford truck chassis that this motor home is built on. You are supposed to remove the factory body mounts, which are fastened in a single hole to a heavy plate on the chassis. You then install the Hellwig replacement mounts, which are much heavier, by using the factory hole and another hole in that plate that is unused in the factory installation. Unfortunately our motor home did not have those second holes in the plates. I contacted Hellwig and they said they'd never heard of that happening before - the second holes had a
Sway bars front and back are a must for anyone with the F53 Ford chassis Motorhome. Before installation, the body-roll on our 35' was frightening, the wife could barely drive it. I installed the rear swaybar myself in just a few hours and the difference was amazing. (you need a breaker bar and strong arms) Much of the body roll was eliminated, it is like riding on a city bus now, very smooth and pleasant. I went ahead and installed the front sway bar as well and the ride is fantastic. There are lots of posts out there suggesting shock absorbers or airbags or springs, but nothing else will fix your body roll like these sway bars. Best investment ever..
I purchase the sway bar for my 2006 Coachmen epic Class A motorhome easy to install works like a charm made a big difference in the way it handles
This fit perfectly in place and in proved the handling real good would highly recommend.
Unhappy here. Might as well left the original on. Absolutely no improvement. I purchased this as a past user of Hellwig. I spent some time comparing the Roadmaster product and choose this for the better downlinks, same size as RM, past satisfaction with HW and better price. Before purchased this I had done the Cheap Handling Fix (CHF)both front and rear. While this helped I was not completely satisfied. I was hoping that replacing the front sway bar would help calm the beast. Like I said no difference. I am giving this two stars as the installation went as per the instructions, and the quality of the bar and parts.
I installed Hellwig front (7217) and rear (7215) sway bars on our 30 foot RV motorhome that runs on a Ford F-53 chassis and the results are worth the effort. The Ford OEM sway bars could not combat passing semi-trucks/trailers nor high wind from causing our RV to rock to and fro and from giving me white knuckles. The heavier duty Hellwig bars have virtually eliminated the rolling/swaying feeling. You can still feel high wind hit the RV but the sensation of tipping over is gone (and my knuckles are no longer white). I installed the sway bars myself. The front was an easy install (getting off the OEM was the tougher job). The rear install was more time consuming due to some tight spacing on the Ford chassis but with some help from a neighbor I got it mounted per the Hellwig spec. Their product documentation is a bit spartan and could be improved/better. But overall in my mind and for my situation, the Hellwig sway bars were/are a great value. Mike in FL
